The Cool Ape Club is a collection of NFTs deployed by contract in 2021 with a volume of over 1,300 ETH and over 2,000 holders. After a rough start, they were recently acquired by Schopix Studios in 2023. Today, they represent membership tokens to special access perks for the future of Schopix Studios, avatars and special abilities for the upcoming Cool Ape tower defense and TCG games, and much more to come.
What's an NFT?
NFT stands for “non-fungible token” and is a fancy way of saying it’s a unique, one of a kind digital item that users can buy, own, and trade. The main function of an NFT is to specify ownership to a certain image, and for Cool Ape Club, that image represents much more than just pixels. It is a membership card that can be publicly verified by anyone on the Ethereum blockchain.
